Overview

Payra Port is Bangladesh’s newest deep-sea port under continuous development. It is strategically designed to strengthen the country’s maritime capacity and accommodate increasing trade volumes.

Positioned along the Rabnabad Channel in Patuakhali, it serves as a vital maritime hub to alleviate congestion at traditional ports and boost regional economic connectivity.

History

Established to meet the growing demands of Bangladesh’s expanding economy, Payra Port was officially inaugurated to ease pressure on existing ports like Chattogram and Mongla.

The port is undergoing phased, large-scale infrastructural development to transform into a modern, full-fledged deep-water facility capable of handling ultra-large container vessels and heavy bulk carriers.

Location & Approaches

Situated on the western bank of the Rabnabad Channel in the southern coastal region of Bangladesh, offering direct access to the Bay of Bengal through dredged shipping channels.
